About
Tommy Thompson Park is a park situated in the Leslieville area of Toronto, Ontario. The park is home to many diverse native species, such as the American Beaver, Barn Swallow, Monarch Butterfly, and many more. However, due to climate change beginning to have a major affect on these species' habitats, many of these species may face a difficult future, and the biodiversity of the area could be diminished as a whole. This website profiles some of these species, the future that they face, and how we can help fight against climate change and for biodiversity.
"Why Does Biodiversity Matter?"
The more biodiverse an ecosystem is, the more adaptable it will be to climate change.
A healthy ecosystem is a biodiverse one, in which various species are able to live in one space, and many symbiotic relationships exist between species. When there is a lot of variety of species in an ecosystem, there is a lot of variety in durability for climate change-related events. Without biodiversity, we would not be here today, let alone having the ability to fight against climate change.
